Zusammenfassung:Exploring ways to foster cooperation amidst diversity in this politically turbulent era seems crucial. The present study explored the relationships among political humility, empathy, and forgiveness. Participants in the present study (N = 201) were from a large Christian university who recalled a time when they were offended due to a political disagreement. Political humility was positively associated with forgiveness of a political hurt, even after controlling for relational humility and political commitment. Participants' high view of Scripture explained additional variance in political humility. Participants' empathy was positively associated with both political humility and forgiveness and also mediated the effect of political humility on forgiveness. Our findings suggest that political humility is important for the forgiveness of a political hurt for Christians and that empathy toward the offender may be one of the pathways linking political humility and forgiveness. Limitations, future directions for research, and practical applications are discussed.
