Um dies zu zeigen, werden zunächst wichtige Positionen von Befürworter*innen des Moral Enhancements vorgestellt und grundlegende Aspekte des verwendeten Freiheitsbegriffes geklärt, bevor das genannte Argument auf Grundlage der von Befürworter*innen angenommen Prämissen zurückgewiesen wird. | ||
| 520 | |a Advocates of emotive moral enhancement argue that such enhancement increases the recipient’s freedom. This article shows that their arguments are flawed. Emotive moral enhancement always either diminishes the freedom or changes the personality of the recipient. Although the method might evoke the desired behavior, it fails to integrate it with the "original" personality. Therefore, this kind of enhancement fails to increase the freedom of persons. To reach this conclusion, the article first assesses two important arguments for this kind of enhancement and the concept of freedom that those arguments presuppose. Based on this assessment, it argues against the position of the enhancement proponents on premises that they must accept. | ||
