Résumé:The legend (manqaba), came to be used, approximately, from the 111/IXth century onward as the stroies narrating the Sufis'miraculous deeds (karamah) and from the VIXIth century on, the mankabas showed further diversity in parallel to the developments within the Sufism. Legends, which were embellished with the Islamic motives, consist of the ancient beliefs and customs of people. Of Abu Hanifa who made a considerable contributions to the development of Islamic thought many legends have been narrated and composed, particularly, for the purpse of exalting Abu Hanifa. Among the groups holding the views of Abu Hanifa such legens have been survived. For example the Kirghizs show much respect to Abu Hanifa and, in this sense, his legendary personality is display more prevalence. Imitation of Abu Hanifa's personality by Kirghizs has been played an important role in maintaining their Islamic identity
