In Auseinandersetzung mit Arendts Theorie des Wollens argumentiert der Beitrag dafür, dass jede Willensäußerung konstitutiv auf einem Moment nicht rational ableitbarer Spontaneität beruht, in der sich die Individualität einer Person ausdrückt. Wichtiger als die Fähigkeit des Verstehens scheint für die normative Relevanz von Willensäußerungen die Fähigkeit der Vorstellungskraft zu sein. 
520 |a Concerning the discussion on the moral relevance of utterances of will by persons of dementia the paper discusses by reference to Hegel's concept of natural will and its use in a ruling of the German Federal Constitutional Court in how far the capability to understand is constitutive for the moral relevance of utterances of will. Discussing Arendt's theory of will the paper argues that each utterance of will relies on a not rationalizable spontaneity, which expresses the individuality of a person. The capability of imagination seems to be more important to the normative relevance of utterances of will than the capability of understanding.
