Zusammenfassung:This article explores the faith in the evangelizing power of writing (considered as a ministry) in the interactions between Christian Brethren missionaries and indigenous communities in the Northwest of Argentina. The ethnographic observation of multiple uses of this "technology of the intellect" led to a detailed historical reconstruction of the forms of production, circulation and appropriation of printed goods and of the practices associated with the expansion of the evangelical proposal between Buenos Aires and the Northwest. Through ethnographic, documentary and bibliographic sources, we seek to problematize and understand the presence and selective integration of printed goods in terms of objects and relationships of cultural mediation.
