Zusammenfassung: | This paper discusses the decisive role of the complex religion/philosophy in F.H. Jacobi’s thought and analyzes his considerations on a number of religious topics with strong political implications – the relationship between state and church, tolerance, the questions of atheism and Spinozism. Jacobi’s political thought circles around the concept of despotism and its antithesis – freedom –, and it reaches its arduous completion in the controversial confrontation with the French Revolution. |
