Description
Résumé:This article traces the history of the Religion and Disability Program of the National Organization on Disability from its inception in 1989 to the present. Over the years, its goal has been to identify and remove barriers to the full participation of worshipers with disability. Program activities include the publication of guides such as That All May Worship, Loving Justice, and From Barriers to Bridges, the cosponsoring of over 225 “That All May Worship” conferences across America, the Accessible Congregation Campaign and the Seminary Project. In all these and more, the program has sought to promote full inclusion of persons with disabilities by emphasizing the gifts and talents of children and adults with disabilities and the need for all religious communities (congregations, denominations, faith groups, and seminaries) to be accessible and welcoming.
