| 520 | |a El derecho a la libertad religiosa ha sido objeto de una evolución histórica en la configuración de su contenido que ha venido marcada no solo por las relaciones entre el poder temporal y el espiritual, sino por la influencia de ideologías que han buscado circunscribir la religión al ámbito meramente privado, en un intento por construir una nueva sociedad que identificara el progreso del hombre con el desarrollo de la ciencia y el olvido de Dios. Una de esas ideologías, el liberalismo, tuvo un papel determinante a la hora de que el Magisterio de la Iglesia fuera perfilando las líneas maestras del derecho a la libertad religiosa. En el presente artículo se analizará cómo entendieron este derecho tres Papas que desarrollaron su pontificado a lo largo del siglo XIX: Gregorio XVI, Pío IX y León XIII, en qué aspectos concretos pusieron el acento, en qué medida el liberalismo influyó en el desarrollo de su doctrina sobre este tema y hasta qué punto puede hablarse de una continuidad o ruptura en la historia del Magisterio eclesial en la configuración del derecho a la libertad religiosa, sobre todo en el contexto de la Declaración Dignitatis humanae del Concilio Vaticano II. | ||
| 520 | |a The right to religious freedom has been the object of an historical evolution in the definition of its content, which has not only been affected by the relations between temporal and spiritual power, but also by the influence of ideologies that have tried to circumscribe religion to the merely private field, in an attempt to build a new society that identifies the progress of man in the development of science and in neglecting God. One of these ideologies, liberalism, has had a very important role in the definition of the guidelines of the right to religious freedom by the Magisterium of the Church. This article analyses the modality in which the following three Popes of the 19th century interpreted this right: Gregory XVI, Pius IX and Leo XIII; it analyses the aspects on which they put more attention, the extent to which liberalism influenced the development of their theory on this topic and the extent to which we can talk about continuity or rupture in the history of the ecclesial Magisterium in relation to the definition of the right to religious freedom, especially in the context of the Declaration Dignitatis humanae of the Second Vatican Council. | ||
