Defende, ainda, que não faz sentido falar na definição do ensino religioso como um componente curricular - discutindo aspectos tais como o que, como, para que e para quem ensinar - se esta não for acompanhada de reflexões sobre a formação inicial de professores, tanto no âmbito inicial, quanto no continuado. 
520 |a Aiming at raising more questions than answers and taking into account the relationship among religion, culture and education, this paper defends education as a cultural practice and culture as an essentially human practice. It also argues that there is no sense in defining religious teaching as a curriculum component - discussing aspects like how, why and who to teach - if reflections about teacher education, in both initial and continuing scope, are not considered.
