Description
Résumé:How do religious actors affect international politics and peacebuilding? As I discuss in my recent book, Global Issues, religious actors bring three “I’s” to global issues: institutions, ideas, and imagination. Governments may recognize the material side of religious actors, the first “I,” the vast networks of religious institutions, yet religious ideas and imagination are powerful in strategic peacebuilding. Strategic peacebuilding is comprehensive, sustainable, interdependent and integrated, and advances just peace. R. Scott Appleby’s work not only documents the strategic peacebuilding of faith-based actors; he expands the institutions and “architectonics” of strategic and religious peacebuilding.
