As such, the study investigated the relationship between intrinsic religiosity and health risk behaviours in a sample of Black university students (N = 335). Two-way ANOVA showed that there were intrinsic religiosity main effects for alcohol use and sexual behaviour, gender and intrinsic religiosity main effects on tobacco and marijuana use, and gender main effects and gender and intrinsic religiosity interaction effects for engagement in physical activity. Thus, religiosity is an inner resource available to avert engagement in varied health risk behaviours.
