| Zusammenfassung: | The influence of Orlando Todisco on "contemporary Scotism" has great historical signifi cance: the doctrinal tradition of the first "disciples" of Duns Scotus continues, with the development of the "school of Scotland". The analysis focuses, in particular, on two main trilogies. One: The Christian Spirit of John Duns Scotu's Philosophy (1975), The Reason in Faith according to John Duns Scotus (1978) and John Duns Scotus Philosopher of Freedom (1996) and the other: The Amazement of Reason: Franciscan Thinking and Modern Philosophy (2003); Creative Freedom. The Modernity of Franciscan Thinking (2010); and In Freedom the Truth. Franciscan Reading of Western Philosophy (2016). The fi rst trilogy highlights the continuous and constant commitment of the Author to make the thought of the "most qualified Master of the Franciscan School" more accessible; the second, however, highlights some important doctrinal aspects, such as "freedom" and "person", based on "absolute Christo-centrism"; as well as the methodological aspect, which reveals scientific security in search of the truth wherever it is. The serious knowledge of Scotism contributes to shattering the common opinion that considers Duns Scotus as an aristocratic philosopher and a speculative theologian, meanwhile, instead, he is also a great Master of the Spirit, whose disruptive force is similar to a "Copernican Revolution", especially with his universal theory of a Christ free from every bond. |
