Al- Azhar and Islamic rationalism in modern Egypt: The philosophical contributions of Mustafa 'Abd al-Raziq and 'Abd al-Halim Mahmud
This paper deals with the philosophy of 'Abd-ar-Raziq (1885-1947) and his pupil Mahmud who both received a traditional Azhari education and became the grand Imams of al-Azhar. It shows how their work contributed to the rise of Islamic philosophical rationalism in modern Egypt. (DÜI-Sdt)
