Résumé:Rational economic development and growth are sometimes questioned today, in the West as well as in the East. In this context, the paper examines Max Weber's thesis on India and especially on Buddhism in the light of more recent knowledge, then not available to Weber. His idea of rational economics and what he perceives as the implications of rational economies.
