Résumé:The national identities of Israelis and Palestinians are affected in opposite ways by demographic factors and by interdispersement of Israeli and Palestinian population. In regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict the author thus emphasizes that it is necessary to combine the maintenance of separate national identities with coexistence (full cooperation) in order to achieve a lasting peace.
