Résumé: | This article contributes towards the study of women’s waqf in the city of Miliana, located about 120 kilometers southwest of the city of Algiers. Like many other Algerian cities in the Ottoman period (1516–1830), women’s waqf were part of the infrastructure of Miliana. This study relies on official documents from the Ottoman period preserved today in the Algerian National Archives, including: the registers (sijillât) of Bayt al-Bâylik and the registers (sijillât) of the tribunal courts maḥâkim shar‘iyya. |
