| Zusammenfassung: | Latin American Pentecostalism is a phenomenon that has drawn the attention of the academy, particularly from the second half of last century. But now, there has been a growth of production on Pentecostalism from Pentecostals themselves and this production is not of the religious type, once it is been marked by the use of the scientific method and human sciences resources. This text is an introduction to this theme. A considerable part of these studies tries and map this vertiginous growth as well as understand its dynamics. In the case of Brazil, there has been a considerable number of universities that have produced theses on Pentecostalism from various fields of knowledge such as History, Social Sciences, Theology, and more recently, Religious Studies. To have an overview of Pentecostalism from dozens of countries in Latin America would be an excessive pretension for a text too short, so we will limit ourselves to mention the case Brazil—the largest Pentecostal nation in the world in number of members—and in terms of the region, the experience of RELEP (Rede Latino-Americana de Estudos Pentecostais [Latin American Network of Pentecostal Studies]). |
