| Résumé: | O Encontro da Nova Consciência (ENC) ocorre há 25 anos em Campina Grande, a segunda maior cidade do Estado da Paraíba, e já foi objeto de alguns trabalhos acadêmicos. Desde 2004, passou a ser abrigado pela Organização Nova Consciência, uma instituição sem fins lucrativos. Atualmente, enfrenta dificuldades em virtude das disputas religiosas em sua cidade sede que podem ser notadas, de modo privilegiado, no período do carnaval. Diante do exposto, tomamos como ponto de partida a questão presente no título: É fácil ser plural? Ou melhor, é fácil ser plural mesmo na (pós) modernidade? De que maneira os novos modos de lidar com a espiritualidade afetam as tradições religiosas hegemônicas? Será que os movimentos e iniciativas que dialogam com o universo Nova Era têm o mesmo espaço do mesmo modo que tiveram nos anos 80, 90? Partindo de uma perspectiva antropológica, no âmbito das Ciências das Religiões, buscaremos discutir essas questões, a partir de nossa etnografia nos Encontros da Nova Consciência. The Meeting of the New Consciousness (ENC), in Campina Grande, the second largest city in the state of Paraíba, occurs for 25 years now and has been the subject of some academic work. Since 2004, it began to be sheltered by the New Consciousness Organization, a non-profit organization. Currently one can observe difficulties due to religious disputes in its headquarters, especially during the time of Carnival. In the face of these occurrences, we take as a starting point the question present in the title: It's easy to be plural? Or rather, it is easy to be plural even in the (post) modern times? How the new ways of dealing with spirituality affect the hegemonic religious traditions? Do the movements and initiatives that dialogue with the New Age occupy the same space in the same way they did in the 1980s and 1990s? From an anthropological perspective, within the scientific Study of Religions, we approach these issues in reference to our ethnography during the New Consciousness Meetings. |
