He obtained his MA in cultural anthropology at Nijmegen Univ. in October 1996 and recently finished his PhD dissertation at the Amsterdam School for Social science Research, Univ. of Amsterdam. He joined the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in February 2003.
